Rachel Fletcher got her start in upholstery as a Props Assistant at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville at the Clarence Brown Theatre where she was fortunate enough to learn the basics of the craft. In 2010 Rachel took the leap to open her own business where she is not just regarded as a local upholsterer but an industry leader who is well respected in the upholstery trade. She's a masterclass professor at the Custom Workroom Conference and President of the National Upholstery Association, where she was instrumental to the development of the non-profit. She is also active with four other administrators of the Professional Upholsterers Network, a professional group of over 3,000 members, to help facilitate education and camaraderie across worldwide workrooms. Rachel collaborates with some of the most influential industry leaders through Board meetings, committees, think-tanks and online forums to bring education about the trade to the public as well as helping to create programs and references for upholstery shops across the USA and Canada. Rachel Fletcher holds a B.A. in Communications from Millikin University in Decatur, IL.
Photography: In 2010, 2011 and 2012 Rachel Fletcher was chosen to take her passion for photography 400 miles North of the Arctic Circle and off the coasts of Iceland and Greenland with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. As a result of those trips, in collaboration with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Rache's photography is featured in a book documenting one of the research cruises called, To the Denmark Strait: Oceanographers Search for a Mysterious Current.
